How did you get into racing?
It was in 2006, I had quit racing dirt bikes and needed a way to satisfy my competitive nature. I raced quite a lot that year and really enjoyed learning to race crits, road races, and even a few time trials. Category Five was a fun time, humbling, but really enjoyable.
What and where is your favorite race?
Hands-down, my favorite race is Tulsa Tough. It’s the courses, the competitors, the downtown Tulsa venues, and most of all, the fans that make this race weekend immortal. If you have never been down there, you should go, you won’t be disappointed.
How many years have you been with the iPA-Sports program?
I have been with the iPA-Sports program since it began in 2011. I was on the original team. It is exciting to be starting my fifth year with the program as I have learned so much during my time in an iPA -Sports kit.
What do you look forward to most about cycling?
I love the competition, I enjoy the opportunity to test myself and my team to actualize the very best results possible. Bike racing engages the mind in physically stressful scenarios and tests one decision making process. Will you do something that causes you discomfort in order to better a teammate? In the heat of the race we are given opportunities to improve our decision making skills which is challenging, but very rewarding.
If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?
I would go back to Jackson Hole Wyoming where my wife and I took our Honeymoon. The mountains are beautiful, the city is quaint, and it’s all about the outdoor lifestyle. It would be a family vacation with our dog, Moto. I would like to hike, ride, mountaineer, and look for wildlife all over that area.
Favorite post-ride meal
My ‘Achilies Heal’ is a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich. It’s my favorite ‘meal’ any time, before or after a ride…if only I could convince the Hammer Nutrition folks to make one of their tasty bars in this flavor…
What are your hobbies
Besides racing bikes, there is not much time for hobbies, but I have a few things I enjoy when I have free time. Walking my dog, Moto, is always a good time, while woodworking in my garage and target shooting (not in my garage) are also hobbies I enjoy.
